The Doctor Fights

The Doctor Fights was a wartime anthology series dramatizing the heroic efforts of battlefield doctors serving in the Allied Forces around the world during World War II. Weekly episodes drew listeners into the compelling drama of life and death on the front lines.  These stories, based on real life events, honored those who furthered the Allied cause and saved countless lives.

The show, sponsored by Shenley Laboratories, also brought listeners an awareness of current battlefield medicine and the innovative contributions of the sponsor company.  Schenley's formulation of penicillin, then a little known drug, was heavily featured to grow public awareness and acceptance of the new antibiotic.  Following each week's drama was a short presentation by a medical professional, where modern medicine's role in the war effort was discussed.

The episodes in this collection are gems from the second season, broadcast in 1945, which was extraordinary for its lineup of heavy hitting Hollywood guest stars.  Included in this set are command performances from Cary Grant, Gregory Peck, Robert Montgomery and Franchot Tone.

This collection contains all four rare episodes believed to be in existence with varying sound quality.
