Inauguration Day takes place every four years during the commencement of a new President of the United States. Until Franklin D. Roosevelt second term as president, Inauguration Day occurred on the anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, March 4th. From 1937 and onward, Inauguration Day occurs on January 20th every four years with the president-elect taking the oath of the presidency, parades, speeches, fancy balls, and of course the Inaugural Address.

The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court holds the honor of swearing in the President: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States."
