Front Page Farrell stars Richard Widmark (and from 1942-1954, Carleton Young) as David Farrell, a handsome star reporter for a top New York newspaper, “The Brooklyn Eagle.” Florence Williams (later, Virginia Dwyer) plays Sally Farrell, David’s office-romance-turned-wife.

Although the show aired just before evening in order to attract men who had just gotten off of work, it also appealed to female listeners because it is “the unforgettable story of marriage and a newspaper office, the story of a handsome, dashing young star reporter on one of New York’s greatest newspapers, and the girl he marries on impulse, to save her from throwing herself away on a rich man twice her age.”

The Farrells go on reporting gigs and solve cases galore. During WWII, the Office of War Information provided the themes for the shows. Later, shows included such excitement as suspicious blackmail and murderous mayhem!
