Based on the best selling 1898 novel and a popular 1934 movie of the same name, David Harum was a dramatic radio serial which was broadcast from 1935 until 1951. Title character David Harum was a banker and a horse trader in the small New England town of Homeville.

Peggy AllenbyA folksy character with charming colloquial speech, sharp business acumen, a relaxed code of ethics and a warm heart made David Harum an extremely popular American character. Harum solved mysteries , unraveled personal problems, uncovered nefarious scams and even rescued damsels in distress. Played by Wilmer Walter, Craig McDonnell and Cameron Prud'Homme, the spunky protagonist is aided by a small circle of companions, most notably Susan Price (played by Peggy Allenby) and plucky Aunt Polly (played by Charme Allen and Eva Condon.) Harum's passion for helping his fellow townsfolk was tempered by his modern approach to doing business, making him an interesting and nuanced character.

Appropriately, the show was known for aggressive advertising, bluntly inserting promotions and specials directly into the show's plot and dialogue. This collection is also part of the Rare Soap Operas Collection.

This collection is in the extensive Hummert Radio Factory Collection. Called the parents of soap opera, Anne and Frank Hummert also created Betty and Bob, Front Page Farrell, Mr. Keen Tracer of Lost Persons, Ma Perkins, Just Plain Bill, Mary Noble Backstage Wife, Young Widder Brown, Mr. Chameleon, Stella Dallas, Manhattan Merry Go Round, Lora Lawton, The American Melody Hour, Hearthstone of the Death Squad, Lorenzo Jones, Nona From Nowhere, Our Gal Sunday, Inspector Thorne, Romance of Helen Trent, and more.
