For many reasons Soap Operas get made fun of a lot -- they are an easy target for crying out loud. In fact "Crying Out Loud" is one of the reasons they are an
easy target!
 But being easy humor doesn't make it less funny! In this collection of Soap Opera Send-ups, Bob and Ray made a living
making fun of the medium that made them famous. One of their greatest spoofs
was "Mary Backstage, Noble Wife". Actually the spoof quickly became better known
than the soap that inspired it.
Of course they were too good of a target for Fred Allen not to take a shot at; even
if he couldn'ttrick Marlene Dietrich into giving hima kiss with the daily serial
script he"found"on the studio floor. And the troops of WWII were very happy to hearFred Allen and Jack Benny having fun with the soaps on Command Performance.
