Women in Government and Politics

When people think of politics, they think of it as something only men can do. Of the United States Senate; it was referred to as "the Good Ole Boys Club." Of the Presidency; it is called "the Most Exclusive Fraternity." Women May be known as the fairer sex, but as one can hear; they can be tough as nails.

Over the past century, women have really exploded onto the political landscape to set forth ideas that are more family friendly, meaning issues that are at the heart of what matters to the American family; Kitchen Table Issues. Some worked behind the scenes albeit ever present like Eleanor Roosevelt and some have almost shattered the ultimate of glass ceilings, the American Presidency like Hillary Clinton. Some, like Rose Kennedy, after the assassinations of her two sons, Jack and Bobby Kennedy taught us even through great tragedy we face as a nation through the faith in a power greater than ourselves, we will get through the tragedy. There is an old saying, "Behind every successful man is a proud wife and a surprised mother-in-law." I just wonder what can be said of these "herstory" making women of the past 100 years.
