Sponsored by Quaker Oats, Quaker Party stars Tommy Riggs and a cute little bundle of mischief seven-year-old girl Betty Lou, his imaginary friend. Tommy Riggs plays both roles and in a high voice precocious Betty Lou, breaking with lighthearted songs like "I've Got A Pocketful Of Dreams." ZaSu Pitts aka Hollywoods Original Glamour Girl, Bea Wain, and even Aunt Jemima make appearances. Tommy Riggs as Betty Lou even sings short children's songs.
The show started as The Tom and Betty Program on WCAE's in Pittsburgh. Tommy Riggs and his alter ego as Betty Lou appeared for 48 consecutive weeks on the Rudy Vallee Hour earning a show of his own with his little imaginary friend and a great band. Their announcer is Dan Seamour and the bandleader is Larry Clinton. This a rare show and only a few episodes have survived, but the sound quality is quite good.
Also see Bergen and McCarthy and Alka Seltzer Time.
