A radio anthology series that debuted in 1953, General Electric Theater was originally a summer replacement for The Bing Crosby Show . Hosted by Ken Carpenter, "the man with the golden voice," the show featured different stories each week, and featured high profile Hollywood guest stars, such as Cary Grant , James Mason, Dana Andrews , Ronald Reagan and Joan Fontaine . Each week audiences were presented with different stories and new characters.
The General Electric Theater was also known for quality scripts, adapted from popular contemporary works by respected authors. Aired from July to October of 1953, it was a sparkling standout among radio anthologies. A television series, also called General Electric Theater, ran concurrently, and outlasted its radio relative, airing its final episode in 1962.
This fascinating drama coupled with all star casts make The General Electric Theater a must for old time radio fans.
