The comic strip followed Sad Sack troubles and foibles of a misfit in military life. The situation comedy radio show picks up with Sad Sack returning home to make a civilian life. It starred Herb Vigran as Sad Sack with a cast of Jim Backus, Sandra Gould, Ken Cristy and Patsy Moran.
In 1957, Paramount made a motion picture with Jerry Lewis as Sad Sack with supporting cast Peter Lorre, David Wayne, Joe Mantell, and Phyllis Kirk.
