The Cavalcade of Music features music by "distinguished American composers." Each show dedicates a full half hour to one composer and their best and most memorable music.
The Cavalcade of Music features "light music" composers such as Jerome Kern who wrote over 700 songs including "Old Man River," "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes", Rudolf Friml originally from Prague wrote musicals, Victor Herbert great composer of operettas including Babes in Toyland, Cole Porter who wrote many fine musicals, and many more. Each show gives a brief biography of the American composers and the history of the individual song performed.

This is a great sample of the 1930's music, specifically 1937. Sponsored by Dupont, it featured the music of Richard Rogers and Vincent Youmans in 2 episodes of popular songs of the day. I was unfamiliar with a lot of the songs but they were all very listenable.
