It happens every autumn, even more surely than Christmas Decorations on the store shelves before Halloween. It's Back to School Time!
The level of excitement that goes with Back to School depends largely on your perspective. For some reason, parents tend to be more enthused about it than the kids! That is because a new school year might bring a little peace and quiet to the homestead while the little darlings become the teacher's problem for a while.
Just because the kids are out of the house does not mean they will stop making trouble for their folks. Of course, parents can help make starting a new school worse than it needs to be; when Honest Haroldbrings his nephew Marvin to his new school the blue serge suit and carnation may be a little too much. Getting the kids to school on time can be difficult when the sleep as hard as Archie Andrewsdoes.
The new school year can mean a chance for new romance at the school dance. At Glendale High School, they have managed to get the Phil Harris Orchestra from The Fitch Bandwagon to play at the dance, but Alice Faye can just imagine what could go wrong. Fortunately, Babs Riley has her father Chester to help her on The Life of Riley. The folks on the school board Down Our Way are hiring a new teacher for the town school, but they need to be sure she can sing soprano to replace the girl who is leaving. The Beverly Hills School Board might be George Burns ticket to a political career, after all, he has Gracie to help him on The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show.
Changes are in store for more than just the students. There is a rumor going around that Connie Brooks might be taking a position at the Sunnyvale Finishing School and leaving Madison High on Our Miss Brooks, but you know how much stock you should place in rumors. Further education is a benefit older folks can enjoy, Fibber is determined to improve himself by taking a chemistry course at night school on Fibber McGee and Molly, the world of science had better look out!
