Miriam Wolfe had the voice of an old woman at a very early age. With her fantastic evil witch cackle, she landed a role on the radio in The Witch’s Tale at age 13. She got the part when the old woman who played Old Nancy the witch died. Through the years, she played many wicked witches and evil stepmothers and queens. She was most famous for her roles on The Witch’s Tale and Let’s Pretend, a Saturday morning children’s show. She also played regularly on Murder By Experts, Ford Theater, and Studio One. Later in her life, she worked in Canadian radio, acting, directing and writing old time radio shows. She also played many evil characters on cartoons. Born in Brooklyn in 1922, she lived up to her old woman voice, dying at age 78.
