Detective Show (1948-1950)
Starring Jack Webb and his famous voice, Jeff Regan premiered after Webb's showings as Pat Novak and Johnny Modero. Now in demand for his crime-busting persona, Jeff Regan helped transition Webb into his role in Dragnet. In Jeff Regan, Webb played a private eye, the "Lion's Eye," who worked for Anthony J. Lyon - "I get ten a day and expenses." His role as Jeff Regan was short-lived, however, because in 1949 he let it slip to Radio Life magazine that the next character he played "might be called Joe Friday." It took two actors to fill his gumshoes. Webb left the show in 1949, and the last year Jeff y was played by Frank Graham and Paul Dubov.
