Orson directs and acts in the show among fellow performers Agnes Moorehead, Ray Collins, George Coulouris, Frank Readick, Georgia Backus, Bea Benaderet, Everett Sloane, and Edgar Barrier, to name a few. According to Orson, Campbell Playhouse has "all kinds of stories, mostly modern, and all of them chosen for their suitability to this medium."
It includes such greats as The Count of Monte Cristo and The Magnificent Ambersons. Annually, Campbell Playhouse broadcast A Christmas Carol, starring Lionel Barrymore.
