Crime (1951-1952)
With a name like The Black Book, you just know this radio showcased the various nefarious deeds of different bad guys. Each show featured a near perfect crime...NEAR perfect. There was always one fatal flaw that betrayed the bad guy. The audience at home was encouraged to listen for the flaw and solve the crime before the end of the show.
The narrator was the "Teller of Tales," voiced by prolific radio actor, Paul Frees. The Teller of Tales had a large collection of stories, most of them featuring someone working to commit the perfect murder or someone running away after committing the murder.
While the show featured some of the best talent on the West Coast such as Frees, Virginia Gregg, and John Dehner, only three episodes aired. Luckily for old-time radio fans of today, four audition shows are available.
