Listeners from around the country wrote in with intriguing questions for The Answer Man.  As many as 2,500 questions came per day to be answered by The Answer Man.  From "Who ate the most at the first Thanksgiving?" to "How many hours are there in a year?" to "Does a hen lay an egg because she wants to or because she has to?"  

The original Answer Man, Albert Mitchell, kept his office the perfect place—across from the New York Public Library!  With a staff of over 40 of brainiest facts finder he could locate, The Answer Man solved thousands of dilemma and settled many bets over its 20 years run from 1937 to 1956.

However, even with his genius staff flipping through the New York Library, there were two questions that stumped The Answer Man:

• How many buffalo would it take to fill Grand Canyon?
• Do birds dream?

There were versions of The Answer Man around the world including Greece, Germany, Poland, and many others. Albert Mitchell was The Answer Man in the United States with Joe Mansfield as The Answer Man in Los Angeles.
