There were always forces that felt there was too much frivolity on radio and that more time should be dedicated to more high brow content. Music and the Muse combined poetry reading with string music and sometimes took itself a little too seriously.

Music and the Muse is truly a show "for those who follow the star of dreams."
"Blending the magic of poetry read by Jan Logan with Thomas Manchini's violin," Music and the Muse can get overly dramatic and (unwittingly) funny at times. Each show contains numerous poetry readings sprinkled with (mostly classical) organ, harp, cello and violin music.
Airing in the late 1940s and early 1950s, this radio program offers such great poems as "Mother," "Radio," "Something Wrong," "The Worm may Turn," and "Eviction Notice." In "A Tribute to Fashion" (broadcast March 19th, 1950), Jan Logan reads as a dramatic organ plugs on in the background:
". . . Then, grim determination clutched her skirt, revealing high top shoes of yesteryear . . . She did not seem to mind a few who laughed. You think she did not care? You simply missed the gesture she had made to fashions death -- that wyas her vivid flashing SCARLET MOUTH!"

Just placed another order from you which I always enjoy doing. 😊
It really is a no-brainer because of your huge selection of all those
great old time radio shows along with your super low mp3 prices!
I'm sure you do it more for the love of keeping the programs alive
over making money. 💙
As I always tell you "thanks for being there and doing what you do!
We truly appreciate you!" 😀
Have a great summer.
Tell OTR cat that I said "hi." 😸
And keep up the great work.
Until next time.
Take care.
