Stay tuned for the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth – The Hidden Truth. A vital human drama, starring one of the world's foremost criminologists who can smell a lie like a squirrel after his winter nut stash. He refuses to be baffled by crime!
Based on the real-life criminologist Leonard Keeler, The Hidden Truth featured a detective who "refused to be baffled by crime". Leonard Keeler invented the polygraph and the shows were taken from Keller's case files. Hart Maguire played Keeler providing both the narration and the acting in the show.
During the course of the show, it was difficult to figure out the whodunit part of the mystery. There is a lot of misdirection with evidence often pointing to the wrong person. Some of the shows are very similar to locked room mysteries. In comes Keeler with his polygraph machine. The show did not rely on the lie detector only. Of course there was good old-fashioned police work. This show gives a fascinating look into the early development and adoption of the lie detector even though it is highly dramatized.
