Radio Remote BroadcastCollege Quiz Bowl was the academic quiz show with the brightest brains circa 1950.Major universities like Notre Dame, Syracuse, Georgetown, Cornell, Columbia, and more including the all women's collegeMt Holyoke "maidens" compete in the College Quiz Bowl old time radio show.

The teams consist of 4 persons representing their university with one serving as team captain. The winning teams received $500 grants for their school. Each team competed by remote broadcast at their respective school in front of cheering classmates. During the break, each college gave a brief description for their respective universities.

University of Minnesota was the most successful school appearing in 23 of the quiz bowls. College Quiz Bowl aired on radio between the years 1953-1955, later moving to television. Better Homes and Gardens Magazine sponsored the show.

    I Just want to thank you for your service and the way in which you have built and improved your collection and capabilities. I also want to say that I. think Lux Radio Theater is a national treasure. My "entry drug" was Johnny Dollar, and then I got hooked by the more sophisticated detective programs and fantastic series like Our Miss Brooks, Fort Laramie, Have Gun Will Travel, and Dimension X and X-1. I've listened to every Lux disk multiple times, and though it went through some ups and downs, it is a marvel. I've purchased many shows similar in nature, but none I've seen can hold a candle to Lux Radio Theater.

    As a school teacher facing the reluctance of many modern pupils it is wonderful to hear the enthusiasm in these young people of a bygone day. Unabashed by any thoughts of 'showing off' and the odium that would bring in these modern times these youthful polymaths are a joy to hear. They are also a pleasant source of 'new-to-me' information. Thank you for restoring these shows to circulation.
