"Would you like to be Queen for a Day?" asked the host, Jack Bailey. "YES!!!!" shouted the audience.
Sponsored by Malted Milk, this glamorous and long-running program was a popular one among housewives. Itstarred their friends and neighbors, and turned them into fabulous Cinderellas with such prizes as a charming five-star luncheon with a friend, a roll down the red carpet at a movie studio, a beauty analysis, Hollywood makeup and hairdo, escort through the Boulevard, dining on the finest steaks and tropical fruits, then dancing at the finest star-studded clubs.
After the host interviewed the five contestants, who made requests for items of their eye (one asked for an operation for her sick cat), the audience cheered to pick their favorite one. The winner won the item she requested, as well as some dreamy prizes and her time in the sun as "Queen for a Day."

My Mother (Esther Turner)was a \\"Queen For A Day\\" winner in Kansas City Missouri in the 1940s....I think it was 1944 or 1945. It was quit a deal in those days and my mother was such a cute bright person who brought a lot of laughter to the show. Her wish was to bring her outside little house into our real home.) In other words we had an outhouse at the time. She was the sole bread winner of our family of six children. Of course she won the \\"Queen\\'s place\\" that day. There were many busloads of ladies from all over the mid west attending the show. Would it be possible to get recording of that program and any other momentous from that day and the trip to New Orleans that followed? I would be so thankful if you could help me get this request granted for our family history of my Mother. In case there is anyone there who has access to this event history could you

My Nanaw(Evelyn Pillow) was a winner of "queen for a day", How could I go about finding anything related to her episode from either on radio or tv. I know she was pregnant at the time and needing a crib for her "little pillow".
