 Leatherstocking Tales is a 1932 show based on a book series by James Fenimore Cooper. It is directed and performed by Charles Fredrick Lindsay. Both Deerslayer and Last of the Mohicans are featured on this program, each in a thirteen-part serial. All Cooper’s tales feature the character Natty Bumppo, who is based on David Shipman the squatter. In the tales, Natty is also known as Leatherstocking, Pathfinder, Deerslayer and Hawkeye by other European settlers and Native Americans.
