Bess Johnson plays a heroine of the same name, a caseworker
at Hilltop House orphanage. Johnson caught the eye of the
producers of Wayne King's broadcasts when she played
Laydy Esther in commercials for the show. They then created
a character of the same name for Hilltop House. This was
the first show that Palmolive sponsored, introducing them
into the world of daytime soap and drama.
