In the show, Joan Barrett was pursing dreams of becoming a Broadway starlet when her father was struck down by a fast moving car. Joan returned home to care for her ailing father. With little money at home, Joan took a job at the local Pine River Emporium. However, things turned sour when another salesgirl, jealous of the beauteous Joan, framed Joan in a theft scheme by sneaking $42 into Joan's glove. A trial ensues . . . Will Joan ever marry her handsome blond-haired blue-eyed surgeon friend? Will blood clots stand in the way of happiness? Will greed and shady lane romances be exposed before it's too late?
