Comedy (1936 - 1937)
The title character was named after the sponsor Montgomery Ward and the show was a instrument to promote the products of Montgomery Ward. The Travels of Mary Ward follows “human experience from the lives of their customers.”
Sweetly sponsored by our friends at Montgomery Wards, the listeners are asked to “get our catalogue and join Mary at her office.” Cleverly used to increase interest in the on goings of Montgomery Ward’s promotions and create the image of the company as a friend to the customer. It’s a darling show about a working woman and catalogue shopper in 1930’s America.
