Studio One is an excellent series turning short stories, novels, and plays into radio bliss. It was cancelled after one season due to what some believe was director Fletcher Markle's perfectionism and unwillingness to hire known actors and actresses. Markle wanted the stories to shine and not the stars.

Nonetheless, the shows are top quality entertainment. The series evolved ironically into the Ford Theater which took the opposite approach to Studio One in that it was over saturated with celebrities. Studio One later became a television series by the same name.
