Childrens show (1940s)
Little Orley, the freckle-faced red-headed little farm fellow, was the brain-child of Hugh Lumpy Brannum (later Mr. Green Jeans on Captain Kangaroo). Little Orley's adventures got their start on Fred Warings old time radio show in the late 1940s. But before that, Little Orley began as a tale Lumpy told to his little friend, Orville.
When Lumpy would visit Orville on his familys farm in Pennsylvania, Orville would ask Lumpy for some stories, and Lumpy would tell him about Little Orley the farm boy. Fred Waring heard of these stories and wanted them to entertain the kiddies on his old time radio show. So stick a piece of wheat in your mouth and hitch up them overalls, because its time for another adventure with Little Orley.
