"AAaaaaahhlll Aboard ... Club Car Special ... All Aboard!"
It is a different time for travel. You wonít be herded through metal detectors and scanners. There probably wonít be an babies screaming when the cabin pressure changes. Donít worry about the seat back and tray-table being in the upright and locked position, there will be a nice table next to your lounge chair to place your drink on. You wonít have to take your shoes of before you board, and the only time you need to open your brief-case is to take out the
March of Events and City Life Section of the Hearst Sunday newspaper.
Club Car Special was presented by the Hearst News Paper Syndicate. The little show presented a teaser of the upcoming Sundayís Newspaper inserts during mid-week. The show opens with a sketch dramatizing a cartoon, then a short review of some of the humorous articles by favorite Hearst writers like O.O.McKentyre, Will Rogers, George Eads, Stan Hilman, Arthur 'Bugs' Bayer, Milt Gross, Damon Runyon and many others.
Most reviewers believe that the purpose of the 15 minute program was to sell Sunday Newspapers, but we think we've discovered that the true purpose of presenting the articles on the radio was so that Dad could enjoy parts of the Sunday Paper before the kids took out all of the fun sections.
