Cult-classic comedy series
Written by Andrew Marshall and Renwick, Burkiss Way starred Denise Coffey, Jo Kendall, Chris Emmett, Nigel Rees and Fred Harris. It was originally based on a series called The Burkiss Way to Dynamic Living, with each episode as a lesson in a comedic fictional correspondence course. Burkiss Way included many ironic and clever writing devices, such as false endings, playing the closing credits at any time during the beginning or middle of the show, and playing the show backwards. One show was said to have been dropped, broken, and reglued, and had sketches that were humorously disjointed and ended in mid-sentence. Wonderfully bad puns and head-splitting hilarity abound.
