Brownstone Theater was a popular old time radio show that aired from 1943 to 1950. The show was created by producer and director Arch Oboler and was one of the first radio dramas to feature a different play each week. The show was known for its dark, suspenseful, and often supernatural themes, which made it a favorite among listeners. The show was set in a brownstone house in New York City and each week, listeners would tune in to hear a different play featuring different characters and storylines. The show was known for its high production values, with expert sound effects and top-notch acting. The stories were often dark and macabre, and often dealt with supernatural or supernatural elements. Brownstone Theater was one of the first shows to air live, which added to the suspense and excitement of the broadcasts. The show also featured many well-known actors of the time, including Agnes Moorehead, Orson Welles, and many others. The show was well-received by audiences and was one of the most popular radio dramas of its time. It was also one of the first shows to be recorded and sold on records, which allowed listeners to enjoy the show even when they couldn’t tune in live. Brownstone Theater continued to air until 1950, when the popularity of television began to make radio dramas less popular. Despite this, the show remains a beloved part of radio history and is still remembered today by fans of old time radio dramas.
