Comedy (1950s)
Years before Andy Griffith’s gospel album, I Love to Tell the Story, went double-platinum he had a short two to eight minute radio show. Each show Andy plays a preacher man and gives a humorous sermon about folksy subjects, such as a bear trying to make supper out of a preacher "oh lord if you can’t help me, please don’t help that bear!" Shows are sprinkled with the audience’s (congregation’s) laughter and "Amens!" Possibly a controversial show, seeing as Andy was later billed as a religious man and here is making fun as a preacher-type character, Andy is hilarious. He yells, sings, makes jokes, all but dances in this one-man monologue show.
