Royalty has new meaning in this melodic airwave program, Ambassadors of Melodyland. The announcer rings in the arrival of the monarchy from this land of tunes and tone. This radio program leaned into the audience psyche of melody as the unknown orchestra performed the various pieces.
Sadly time has erased much of what is known about the various musicians that vocally and instrumentally lended their talents for the airwaves, but the fact of its popularity was never in doubt.
What is this Thing Called Love
This snappy piece opens the episode as the crooner asked the question that lovers everywhere wanted answered. Sponsors for the program took up a lengthy piece of time allocation...but hey footcare is important. (Dr. Scholls was the sponsor for this program). Now the Queen of Hearts is serenaded by the orchestral progression of where birds sing and the golden daffodils grow. As the program ends the audience is instructed to take their leave. The Ambassadors of melodyland are ready to call it a night.
Happy Days are Here Again
The emissaries of the court are now in attendance as the orchestra reminds the audience that “Happy Days are Here Again”. The Queen of Hearts is in attendance and poised by her husband the King, she raptly listens to the “news” of the day as the Ambassadors repast the court with rich tonal oration. In place of a court jester, Dr Scholls presents the needed care for corns and feet. The Ambassadors offer a parting gift to her majesty as they prepare to leave and head home. The musical interlude shares the emissaries singing of “Roll, Roll, Rolling Along”. As the program comes to a close the Ambassadors do what they say...and roll along.
The Ambassadors of Melodyland radio program is best described as a musical kingdom where the monarchy reigns with a tonal hand and the audience is the rapt kingdom. The Queen of Hearts decrees that you return next time to share in the festivities.
